BAFTA nominated Go and Be A Grown Up was intended as a companion piece to Go and Get A Grown Up. The BAFTA judges described the show as "a beautifully simple format excellently delivered, shot from a child's perspective without ever patronising the viewer."
The simple five minute format begins with the child of the day giving clues about their personality so that the viewer at home can guess what grown up they might want to be.
After a sequence of images of children in dressing up clothes the child reveals who they want to be. "A train driver."
We see the child go and be a grown up. In a magical wonder woman moment they spin round into the outfit of their chosen profession.
The key to the format and the agreement the producers make before any filming takes place is that the children must really do something. So in Go and Be A Pilot the little boy really does fly the plane and in Go and Be A Doctor the little girl really applies the plaster.
Simple stories told well.
